Youngji Brings the Heat to London’s Clapham Grand

Lee Youngji stopped by London on the 30th of Jan at the iconic Clapham Grand for her world tour ALL OR NOTHING! I feel very privileged to have been to her concert; I’m still buzzing about it!

Before telling you more about the evening, let’s dive into Lee Youngji herself, in case you don’t know her. Youngji has slowly been making her mark as one of the top female rappers from South Korea. Artists like CL and Jessi have paved the way for younger female artists to be recognized in a world of rappers where we usually find only male artists. It’s truly remarkable the work that Youngji and other female artists have done to this day! I will always support them and wish them all the greatest success!

Let’s dive into Youngji’s background. She is the winner of High School Rapper 3 and Show Me the Money 11, as well as the host of the web talk show Not Much Prepared, which I truly love!! Youngji’s personality is so bubbly and funny that watching her YouTube show makes you feel better! I always laugh so hard when she interviews artists; my favourite clip was the one with Jisoo when she was promoting her single album Flower.

The same energy we see on screen was also on display on stage, showcasing how funny and humble she is. That’s a rare quality nowadays, and it really made me very happy seeing her like this on stage! She lived up to my expectations!

But let’s dive into the night! Shall we?!  As soon as I stepped into the theatre, the place was packed with fans cheering and screaming for Youngji. I could see the stage with instruments, which gave me the hint that she was going to perform with a live band! We were all in for a treat!  As soon as the show started, Youngji appeared with great energy! She opened the stage with “GO HIGH” and “16,” followed by “I am Lee Young Ji” and “Freesia.”  Fans sang along the whole time, and Youngji was actually surprised that fans knew the lyrics of her songs, even the Korean parts. The show continued with some of my favourite songs, including “My Cat,” “small girl,” and “that’s my girl!!!”

Throughout the show, Youngji took several breaks between sets to interact with fans, making us laugh with her funny jokes and moments. It felt like being a guest on one of her YouTube videos. She’s clearly the star of the show, but her charisma and personality made us all feel so special, like we were part of the show! She then performed more songs like “DNA Remix,” “Fraktsiya,” and “Trouble.”  She then performed the iconic “Blue Check,” which I love, “WE,” and then “NOT SORRY.” As the show was coming to an end, Youngji couldn’t leave without performing the upcoming “Fighting” from BSS, which she was featured on. Then, the iconic “Smoke,” and she closed the show with a little surprise song, a cover of Lizzo’s “Juicy”!

The show ended leaving everyone pumped, including myself! Absolutely an amazing performance; Youngji has such great energy on stage, and her personality makes her shine even more!  Can’t wait to see her make more music! Hopefully, we won’t need to wait too long!
