I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down (virtually, of course!) with the NEWBEAT members for an exclusive, written interview. We talked about the behind-the-scenes moments, the inspiration driving their intense new sound, and what inspired them becoming idols.

Davide: Hello NEWBEAT, this is Davide. Thank you very much for doing this interview! To start, please could each member introduce yourselves? Please share your name, your role in the group (e.g., Leader, Main Vocalist), and maybe one unique, interesting thing about yourself.
Park Minseok: Hello, I’m Park, Minseok, the leader of NEWBEAT. I try to keep the team centred and grounded, so I often introduce myself as the “heart” of the group.
Hong Minsung: Hi, I’m Hong, Minsung. I’ve transformed from cute pink hair to a chic black look, and within NEWBEAT I’m known as the “ears” of the team.
Jeon Yeoyeojeong: Hello, I’m Jeon, Yeoyeojeong. I bring strong charisma to NEWBEAT, and I’m in charge of R&B vocals and dance, which is why I call myself the “lungs” of the team. I’m also known for my unstoppable, bulldozer-like energy!
Choi Seohyun: Hi, I’m Seohyun, NEWBEAT’s resident “muscle” and hip-hop boy! My positions are dance and rap, and my strengths are powerful, swag-filled performances. As the performance leader, I’m responsible for shaping our stage presence.
Kim Taeyang: Hello, I’m Taeyang, the “veins” of NEWBEAT, the one who keeps the emotional flow alive. People say I have an unexpected, contrasting charm.
Jo Yunhu: Hi, I’m Yunhu, NEWBEAT’s prince (laughs) and also the “brain” of the team. I’m turning twenty soon, so please look forward to many sides of me!
Kim Riwoo: Hello, I’m Riwoo, the “eyes” of NEWBEAT and the maknae. I have a dot in one of my irises and heterochromia, so my eyes are pretty unique!
Davide: Before diving into the album, you debuted in March 2025, a few months ago.
I’ve been following your journey so far, and I must say, I’m very impressed with the music, energy and charisma that you guys are bringing! How has the experience been so far since your debut?
Park Minseok (박민석): Every day has felt like climbing a new step. Since everything was a first for us, each new experience made me grow, though at times it felt like I wasn’t moving at all. But every part of that journey has been a huge lesson
Davide: Your new album is titled LOUDER THAN EVER. What is the main message or feeling you want your listeners to take away from the album as a whole? What was the biggest inspiration for the music?
Hong Minsung (홍민성): Just like our first album, we wanted to say that “being different doesn’t mean being wrong.” This time, like the meaning of “Flip the Coin,” we wanted to show that everyone has two sides and that all those sides deserve love. That’s why we also tried contrasting visual concepts.
Davide: The title track, “Look So Good,” is a powerful song. What was the main inspiration behind this song? What feeling or story does the music tell?
Jeon Yeoyeojeong (전여여정): ‘Look So Good’ is exactly what the title says. It’s a song about looking at yourself in the mirror and saying, “You look amazing.” It’s full of confidence and boldness. It continues the theme of our first album, but takes the idea of showing your raw self one step deeper.
Davide: The music video for “Look So Good” has a great visual style and choreography. Can you tell us about the concept inspiration for the music video?
Choi Seohyun (최서현): The ‘Look So Good’ MV is all about strong visuals and performance. We focused on highlighting each member’s individuality and confidence, and we wanted the visual energy to mirror the power of the music.
Davide: I am curious to ask a fun question based on your title track: What is something that you think “looks so good” right now? It can be anything—your favourite food, a TV show, a new song, or even a piece of clothing!
Jo Yunhu (조윤후): I’ve been watching a lot of cooking videos lately. When fresh ingredients and spices come together in a beautiful recipe, it makes my heart feel “Look So Good,” too!
Davide: Besides the title track, do you have a favourite song from the LOUDER THAN EVER album? If so, which one is it and why?
Jo Yunhu (조윤후): My favourite is the title track, “Look So Good.” From the very first listen, the melody stuck in my head, and it was instantly addictive.
Kim Riwoo (김리우): My favourite is “Unbelievable”! Whenever I listen to it, I suddenly get so much energy. After finishing our schedule, we often ran through all four tracks, and ending with “Unbelievable” always boosted my strength.
Davide: Thinking back to before your debut, what artists or idols inspired you to follow this dream? Do you remember the exact moment you decided that you wanted to become a K-pop idol?
Kim Taeyang (김태양): I started dreaming of becoming an artist after watching TXT’s Yeonjun. I happened to catch a year-end performance, and I thought, “I want to be someone that cool and impactful someday.”
Kim Riwoo (김리우): I was just an ordinary student, but one day I was street-cast while hanging out with a friend. That moment made me curious about the idol world, and I started practising hard and growing my dream.
Davide: Looking ahead, what is one main goal (both artistically/musically and personally) that you hope to achieve as a group during this journey?
Jeon Yeoyeojeong (전여여정): I want our music and messages like “accept and love yourself” to reach many people and have a positive impact. Personally, my goal is to become an artist whose presence on stage instantly captures both eyes and ears.
Davide: We all know that idols are very busy! What are your favourite things to do in your spare time that help you relax, recharge, and take a break from work?
Choi Seohyun (최서현): We travel a lot for schedules, so I end up doing a lot of online shopping. I’m really into fashion, so even when I can’t visit stores offline, I check trends online.
Jeon Yeoyeojeong (전여여정): Each member is different, but I usually recharge at home. I play games, watch movies, or look up performances from my role models to relax.
Davide: Many fans in Europe are excited to meet you! Do you have any plans or ideas for a fan meeting or tour in Europe soon? If not, is it something you would like to do?
Park Minseok (박민석): We really want to visit Europe. There’s no confirmed schedule yet, but our goal is to grow even more so we can meet our European NEURO soon. Personally, I’ve always dreamed of going because it’s such a beautiful place.
Davide: Speaking of fans, do you have any special message for NEURO, your fandom?
Kim Taeyang (김태양): Thank you to every NEURO who travels long distances to support us. We’ll keep working hard to show you amazing performances. I love you, NEURO!
