Junny, a talented singer-songwriter, has emerged as a rising star in the industry, leaving an indelible mark on listeners with his heartfelt melodies and introspective lyrics. As we celebrate his latest single “INVITATION” featuring GAEKO, Junny continues to push the boundaries of his artistry, delivering a captivating musical experience that resonates deeply with fans around the globe.

In this exclusive interview, we had the privilege of delving into Junny’s creative process, exploring the inspiration behind his music, and gaining insights into his aspirations for the future.

Davide: How are you? How’s life lately?
Junny: I’m doing great, my new single just dropped and the love has been huge so I’m just very glad that my fans enjoy the song.

D: You recently performed at the Bubble Pop Festival in Barcelona, you mentioned that was your first time in Barcelona, did you manage to visit and enjoy the city during your stay? What were the highlights of your trip?
J: Barcelona was beautiful, one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been and it was great to have a day off there, visiting the beach and eating the local food. Awesome experience overall.

D: Your new song INVITATION came out on July 6th. What was the creative process and what did inspire this song? Is there any fun facts you’d like to share with us?
J: The song was actually a challenge started by a producer from DEVINECHANNEL and this was 3 years ago. I took part in the challenge as a request and also to impress the other producers and artists that contributed at the time (GAEKO being one of them) after my verse took off on TIKTOK and getting many fans asking for a full version, I was able to finish up the song having GAEKO on the track as a feature and finally release it to the world. This song has so much history.

D: Are we expecting a full new album with it and maybe a new world tour too?
J: I’m constantly making new music and just figuring out how I want to release them and that’s where I am at right now, in terms of touring there are some news that is on the way so stay tuned for that!

D: Over the years you wrote incredible songs for different artists such as NCT Dream, NCT 127, WayV, JAY B and lately SHINE with the new song GRAVITY, are you able to give us some behind-the-scenes on how you write their songs? 
J: When I write for other artists I sort of imagine myself being them on stage or in a way impersonate them the best I can. It gives me a better idea when I’m in a session writing for that specific artist. As a songwriter, I think it’s a blessing to just have a song I write be used on someone else’s album whoever it may be.

D: Over the years you collaborated with different artists, who would be your dream collaboration?
J: For collabs I never like to name a specific artist just because there’s just so many talented people out there and I think whoever it may be down the road I’d love to just collaborate in general.

D: Artistically, who was your biggest inspiration growing up? And which inspires you now?
J: My biggest inspirations I think are my older brothers and how they work so hard on their craft.

D: We love your sense of fashion, do you have any favourite brands? If you could choose one brand to be an ambassador to, which would that be?
J: I don’t consider myself as a well dresser honestly I just like simple and comfortable clothes, Balenciaga has been one of my favs, as an ambassador I’d love any brand tbh I’ll do whatever I can to rock it lol.

D: We saw you performing live on different occasions, your shows are always amazing. Your energy and vocal skills are just made to be shared on stage with all of us. What is your favourite part while performing?
J: It’s gotta be the fan interactions and being able to perform in front of these fans who came to see me. It’s such an amazing feeling.

D: About interacting with the fans, do you have any favourite or funniest memories with the interaction with the fans?
J: During tours I would see a lot of familiar faces and I think that’s just something that I will never take for granted. These fans take their time to see my shows for two or three sometimes four shows in a row and I can’t thank them enough, it really gives me confidence in what I do and how far I’ve come and I just wanna put on the best show I can for them.

D: Besides music, you were also one of the hosts at the Dive Studios “Get Real” Podcast and Is Is HWAITING Season 2, will we see you doing more? Is there any new or different adventure on the horizon?
J: Season 2 already happened and I wasn’t able to be a part of that, I’d love it if GETREAL made a comeback and I would love to be a part of that, no other news on things outside of music of yet.
