Before JUNNY brings his highly anticipated Europe Tour to EartH Hall on October 5th, we had the incredible opportunity to sit down with the artist himself. Fresh off the release of his new album, “null,” JUNNY is not only a rising star in Korean R&B and pop but a captivating performer I’ve had the pleasure of seeing live multiple times, from London to Barcelona, and even alongside JAY B in Milan.
With “null,” JUNNY once again showcases his unique ability to fuse smooth vocals with deeply emotional, genre-bending music. The album is a cinematic journey, a collection of twelve tracks that trace the ups and downs of a romantic relationship, from passionate beginnings to a final journey of self-recovery. It’s an honest, sonically diverse, and effortlessly charming body of work that truly solidifies his artistry.
In this new interview, we talk with JUNNY about the creative process behind “null,” his excitement for the European tour, and what it’s like to finally bring this powerful new music to fans who have waited so long.
Davide: Hi JUNNY! It’s so great to see you again. Thank you so much for finding the time for this interview. You must be incredibly busy with the promotion for ‘null’, and having just gotten back from Australia and New Zealand. How have you been?
JUNNY: I’ve been good! Definitely busy with all the promo and coming off the Australia and New Zealand shows, but it’s been exciting. Right now my focus is on preparing for the Europe tour, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been working hard to make sure these shows feel special, so it’s been a mix of exhaustion and gratitude.
Davide: Your new album, null, is a masterpiece. It feels so different and elevated from your previous work, but at the same time, it still keeps your R&B roots. I especially love “Weight of Time” and “No Morning.”
The album has a cinematic quality to it, like a film or a play. What was the overall creative concept behind the album and this unique storytelling approach?
JUNNY: Thank you so much. With null I wanted it to feel like you’re watching a story unfold, almost like a play in twelve scenes. It moves through love, heartbreak, emptiness, and eventually renewal. The cinematic approach came naturally because I was thinking of the songs as chapters — each one carrying its own emotion but also connecting to the bigger picture.
Davide: Let’s talk about the title track “Energy.” It is described as capturing the moment when intense attraction turns into certainty. What was the main inspiration behind this track, and what was the creation process?
JUNNY: Energy came from that feeling when you meet someone and the chemistry is so strong, it’s undeniable. At first it’s just attraction, but then there’s a moment when you realize it’s more than that, it’s real. The song was written to capture that certainty — like the spark turning into a flame.
Davide: I also have to ask about the music video for “Energy.” I absolutely love the track, and the video itself is so elevated, with a very unique aesthetic. What was the core inspiration behind the music video, and what was it like bringing that visual concept to life?
JUNNY: The video was about showing Energy in a visual way — the colors, the movement, the concept of using an energy drink itself, and the intensity of being pulled toward someone. We wanted it to feel sleek but also a little surreal, like you’re caught in a moment that’s larger than life. Shooting it was really fun because I got to see that concept come alive in a way that matched the song’s energy perfectly.
Davide: The second title track, “SOUR,” portrays the tension and push-and-pull of a relationship. How did you approach creating this track, and what story are you hoping to tell with it?
JUNNY: SOUR came from that chaotic space where desire and pride collide. You don’t always know what you’re getting yourself into, but the push and pull becomes addictive. I wanted the track to feel messy, because first encounters can be messy. The story isn’t about resolution, it’s about being caught up in that tension, but enjoying the ride.
Davide: The whole album is a journey, and I feel that some of the B-sides are so strong that they could be an introduction to your music for new listeners. I mentioned earlier that I especially love “Weight of Time” and “No Morning.” “Weight of Time” is so epic; I honestly thought it would have been an incredible title track with a crazy video.
If someone was listening to your music for the first time with this album, which B-side would you recommend they start with to get a feel for your artistry?
JUNNY: I’d say Weight of Time. It’s my most ambitious song, and it shows a side of me that’s willing to take risks with structure and storytelling. It’s not traditional, but that’s the point — it’s meant to pull you into the chaos of memory and emotion. For someone new, I think it gives a good picture of who I am as an artist.
Davide: Your upcoming Europe tour is so exciting! Having seen you live multiple times—in London, Barcelona, and Milan—I know how amazing your performances are. What are you most looking forward to about this tour? Is there anything you’re preparing specifically for European fans?
JUNNY: I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again and performing the new album for the first time in Europe. The fans there always bring so much energy, and it’s inspiring. I’ve been working on some special arrangements and moments that will only happen on this tour, so I’m excited to share those surprises. Setlist is completely reworked and it’s going to be next level.

Davide: Specifically for London, do you have any favourite memories from previous visits, either for a show or just exploring the city? We’re all excited to have you back here.
JUNNY: London has always been special. The last time I performed there, the crowd sang every word back to me, and it’s something I’ll never forget. Outside of shows, I just love enjoying the vibe of the city since its such a big difference from Seoul, and hopefully it can give me some new inspiration for the future.
Davide: In our previous interview, you mentioned that your older brothers were a big inspiration for you growing up. Besides them, who are some of your biggest artistic inspirations, both from when you were younger and now?
JUNNY: When I was younger, I was inspired a lot by Usher, Ne-Yo, Chris brown, Justin Timberlake — artists who shaped my love for R&B. Now, my inspirations are constantly evolving. I still look up to those legends, but I also get inspired by my peers and collaborators. Watching other artists push boundaries motivates me to do the same.
Davide: And it is now the turn for the most important question… I have to ask about your adorable poodle, Leo! How is it doing? What’s it like having him in your life?
JUNNY: Leo’s doing great! He’s honestly the best companion — always keeping me grounded no matter how busy things get. Having him in my life makes everything better. He’s family.
Davide: Besides making music and being in the studio, what do you like to do to relax or get inspired? Do you have any hobbies that help you unwind?
JUNNY: I like to just step away from the noise — play games, watch shows, or spend time with friends and family. Traveling and seeing new places also gives me a lot of inspiration. Sometimes the best ideas come when I’m not trying to force them, just living life. Thankfully I have the right people around me to make that happen.
Davide: Thank you so much, JUNNY. It was a true honour to chat with you again, and I can’t wait to see you shine on stage on your European tour. Good luck with the rest of your promotions!
