Fresh from the high-octane energy of his ‘Into the Ocean’ European tour, K-pop sensation JUNHEE is an artist of singular talent. Having last caught up with the A.C.E journey back in 2024, seeing JUNHEE return to the London stage as a solo artist feels like witnessing the beginning of an amazing new chapter. From a sold-out, electric night at Oslo Hackney to an intimate, heartfelt fan meeting at The Garage, his presence in the capital has been nothing short of magnetic.
But Junhee isn’t just looking back at the success of his tour. Behind the scenes, the artist is already deep in the creative process, meticulously crafting a new musical universe that promises to be his most personal yet. Between rehearsals and soundchecks, we sat down with him in London to discuss the transition from group dynamics to solo independence, his “thirst” for new sounds, and exactly what he’s been craving to eat in the city.
Dive into the exclusive interview with JUNHEE below.
1 Davide: JUNHEE, I’m Davide, and it is a pleasure to see you! We are speaking just after your London concert, and your fan meeting is about to start. London crowds are known for their incredible energy—how did it feel to be back on stage here, and what has been the most memorable ‘European’ moment for you during this specific tour?
JUNHEE: To begin with, it’s actually been two years since I last returned to London. I was so moved to see that so many people came out to see me. The performance itself felt like a ‘home party’—everyone enjoyed it so much and kept the energy high from start to finish. It truly felt like a gift of a show.
Even while performing, I kept thinking about how much I want to come back to London again. As for my favourite moments in Europe, the time spent on stage meeting the fans is what stays with me the most; it was an unforgettable experience. I think I’ll be reminiscing about every single moment for a long time.
2 Davide: This tour must feel very special. You’ve spent so many years sharing the stage with your members, but this time the spotlight is on you alone. How has that transition felt for you? Do you find yourself feeling more pressure, or do you enjoy the freedom of being able to connect with the audience in such a personal, singular way?
JUNHEE: To be honest, I do find myself missing the members. Since we’ve spent such a long time together, it’s only natural that they come to mind whenever I’m dancing or singing.
However, the path I am taking now is a journey of carving out my own direction and identity on my own. I see it as a process of growth and a challenge I need to take on, so I’m working hard to overcome those feelings. I really want to do well, and I believe all of these moments are valuable experiences. I feel like I’m heading in the right direction.
3 Davide: You’ve been incredibly busy with the tour and meeting fans across Europe. But as you know, fans are always hungry for more! Knowing that you are working on your next musical project, could you give us a little teaser about the main theme or message you want to explore in this upcoming release?
JUNHEE: I actually mentioned this once during the tour, but the title track for my next album is called ‘Type of Love.’ For a long time, I’ve wanted to tell a story about the various emotions of love that I’ve experienced throughout my life, and I think this upcoming album will be exactly that.
It’s going to be an album that explores perspectives on love from many different situations and viewpoints. I’ve prepared a lot of songs, and while I’m not sure exactly how many will make the final tracklist, I am carefully selecting and refining them to ensure I return with a great record. When it’s finally released, I hope people will listen and think, ‘Ah, so this is the kind of love Junhee was envisioning.’
4 Davide: Looking at this next chapter, are there any specific genres or concepts you are itching to experiment with that we haven’t seen from you yet? And since you have such a natural talent for it, is a return to acting also part of the plan for the near future?
JUNHEE: To be honest, while I always have the desire to act, I still have a lingering thirst for music that hasn’t been fully quenched yet. I think once I feel I’ve satisfied that musical hunger, I’ll have the mental space to show everyone my acting again.
As for the music, this upcoming album will feature a diverse range of genres. While I can’t confirm exactly what they are just yet, it spans from Pop to EDM and more. What I’ve wanted to do most is create an EDM-focused album. I’ve mentioned this to my fans quite often in the past—I really want to produce the kind of music that can truly ‘hype up’ a crowd at concerts, festivals, and other big events.
5 Davide: Between the rehearsals and performances, have you managed to get out and see much of the city? Is there a specific London landmark or even a certain food you were determined to try while you’re here?
JUNHEE: Since London is such a huge city, I wasn’t quite sure where to go. If you could recommend some places, I’d love to visit them! As for food, I haven’t had the chance to try Fish and Chips yet, so I’d really like to give that a go.
6 Davide: Since we are about to start the London fan meeting, the emotions in the venue are very high. If you could say one thing to the fans who travelled from all over the country to see you this week, what would it be?
JUNHEE: To my dearly, dearly loved CHOICE—I honestly don’t know if I deserve to receive such an overwhelming amount of love. I am always so grateful. I’ve been reading many of your messages, and one in particular really touched me; it said, ‘The 420 miles I travelled for you were so worth it.’ Reading that made me feel so much gratitude.
Having received all this love, I will return to Korea, work hard on a great new album, and come back to see you all again. Thank you so much.
Davide: Thank you so much! It’s all for today. Thanks for having me, and I look forward to seeing what you’ll bring next!
JUNHEE: Thank you so much!
