The K-pop Prince Returns: TAEMIN Shines BST Hyde Park – Review

When the “Prince of K-pop” graces a stage, the world stops to watch. On Sunday, June 28th, London’s BST Hyde Park bore witness to a masterclass in performance art as Taemin stepped onto the Great Oak Stage. Having followed his journey for years, I’ve seen him command venues across the globe, but there is something uniquely transformative about seeing him in the heart of London—a city that has become a recurring chapter in his expansive international story.

Nearly two decades after debuting in 2008, Taemin continues to rewrite the rules of what an idol can be. The first half of 2026 has been a whirlwind for the SHINee legend; from making history as the first male K-pop solo artist to perform at Coachella to the successful release of his powerful English-language singles “Long Way Home” and “PERMISSION,” Taemin has proven that his creative evolution is far from finished.

With a stage presence that seamlessly blends ethereal grace with razor-sharp intensity, Taemin didn’t just perform a set—he curated an experience. Whether he was channeling the smooth R&B melancholy of his latest tracks or delivering the iconic, high-octane choreography that earned him the title of “Idol’s Idol,” the atmosphere at BST was nothing short of legendary.

Join me as we break down Taemin’s latest appearance at BST Hyde Park, exploring how his evolving sound and legendary performance style continue to set the gold standard for global K-pop icons.

The sun was shining over Hyde Park; even the weather seemed to know it needed to clear up for the Prince of K-pop, TAEMIN. With a fresh breeze blowing through the crowd to keep us cool, TAEMIN made his appearance in the blink of an eye. The crowd’s cheers were so loud you could have heard them from the other side of the festival.

Rocking a stunning black suit—shirtless beneath the blazer, sexy but still stylish—and fresh platinum hair, TAEMIN kicked off his set with “Sex In The Air.” What a way to introduce himself to BST Hyde Park, embodying the very essence of TAEMIN from the very first note. A perfect opening; the sexiness was truly in the air!

“WANT” was up next with a very smooth transition, followed by “PERMISSION.” This is where the energy really began to elevate. The choreography was extraordinary, and the storytelling with his dancers was so theatrical that it felt as though we were immersed directly into the song. It was such a unique, incredible feeling. This is TAEMIN’s magic: you are teleported into a different world while watching him perform, and you wish it would never end.

The set continued with the iconic “Criminal” and “MOVE.” TAEMIN then performed the viral fan favourite—or at least, my personal favourite—“Guilty.” It was so on point and never fails to impress. This track is incredibly timeless; it’s one of those songs you can listen to over and over again without ever getting tired of it.

Moving on, “Advice” was up next, featuring dancers who were perfectly in sync, leading into a sleek performance of “IDEA.”

Unfortunately, we were nearing the conclusion. The final act opened with “Let Me Go,” and once again, he made sure to give his absolute best, showcasing incredible moves that had everyone dancing!

Before wrapping up his solo performance, it was picture time! You could hear the genuine excitement and happiness in TAEMIN’s voice as he thanked everyone at BST Hyde Park—and he even teased a new album coming soon! How exciting is that?

Just like that, we hit the final song, “1004.” It was a sweet performance filled with incredible vocals from our Prince of K-pop.

This marked my second time witnessing and reviewing TAEMIN, and what can I say? It is always a joy to be catapulted into his world. Every time he performs, you enter a space of pure excellence. From sleek, sharp movements to vocals that make you fall in love with his artistry all over again, he is a must-watch at least once in a lifetime. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to see him live twice, and I hope to see him again soon.

I am already looking forward to his next comeback. For now, keep your eyes peeled on TAEMIN’s socials for further updates.
