Since bursting into the scene from the global debut project MAKE MATE ONE (MA1), NouerA has been on an unstoppable ride! Following the success of their third mini-album, POP IT LIKE, the septet has returned sharper, bolder, and more experimental than ever with their 4th mini-album, .exe.
Before diving into our chat, huge congratulations are certainly in order: NouerA have been making history on music shows with their latest comeback! They recently achieved their emotional first-ever career win on Show Champion on August 5, 2026, quickly followed by their second win and first major public broadcast network victory on Music Bank on August 7, 2026. It is a monumental milestone that proves just how far they’ve come! So proud of these incredible, talented boys!
Playing on the computer file extension theme to map out a fearless “confession operation”, ‘.exe’ captures the raw, pulsing emotions of youth pushing past boundaries for love. Fresh off the energy of their ongoing CATCH THE WAVE world tour—and while UK fans eagerly wait to welcome them to London—I caught up with NouerA once again following our previous chat. We sat down to talk about how their artistry has evolved since we last spoke, the stories behind their new tracks (including the fan-favourite live preview “LIFE IN COLOR”), and what it’s like connecting with global NovA on the road.
Welcome to the digital, high-energy world of NouerA.
Davide: Hello NouerA! It is an absolute pleasure to welcome you back to Davide K-pop so soon. How have you all been doing since we last spoke, and how does it feel to return with your 4th mini-album, .exe, just four months after your previous release?
HYUNJUN: It’s only been four months, but we’re already back with .exe! Even though the prep time was short because of the quick comeback, we poured extra focus into everything. The new songs are amazing, so I’m super happy and enjoying these promotions.
Davide: During our last interview for POP IT LIKE, you mentioned wanting to highlight your individual personalities and step into a more natural, free-spirited vibe. Looking back at that point, how do you feel your artistic identity has grown for this new comeback with .exe?
JUNPYO: Until now, NouerA’s story was centred around our agent universe, so we hadn’t really explored the emotion of love directly. Since this [.exe] album is our first time singing about love, it might capture a side of love that feels a bit clumsy and inexperienced. However, I think even that clumsiness represents genuine emotions that show who NouerA is right now.
While preparing for this comeback, I felt that we didn’t just try a new concept—we grew into a team capable of expressing a wider range of emotions. Now, I have the confidence that we can naturally weave diverse emotions and stories into our unique universe, and through these experiences, our identity as artists has become even more solid.
Davide: The concept for this new album is so unique, utilising the .exe computer file extension theme to tell the story of a bold “confession operation”. What was the inspiration behind this digital, retro-infused concept, and what kind of vibe did you want to project this time?
FAN: We prepared this album with the goal of showcasing a new style while also delivering a confession in our own way to NovA, who have always supported us. So this time, we wanted to show a refreshing and endearing side of NouerA that we haven’t shown before! I really hope NovA loves it!
Davide: Let’s talk about the title track, also named .exe. It’s described as a high-energy track about a dash crossing dimensional boundaries to reach a loved one. What was the recording process like, and what message do you want fans to take away from it?
YUSEOP: ‘.exe’ is a song with really high energy, so during recording, we paid a lot of attention to capturing that sense of speed and emotion.
The message we want to share with our fans through this track is that we hope to deliver energy and courage to you through our music and performances.
Davide: The tracklist features some intriguing titles like “LOCKED IN” and “W.T.F(un)”. But I am especially curious about “LIFE IN COLOR,” which many fans are talking about because you previewed it live during the Japan stops of your CATCH THE WAVE world tour! What does this song mean to you, and how did it feel performing it live for NovA before its official release?
GIHYEON: This song reminds us once again of what NovA means to us. It holds the meaning that because NovA exists, a world that was once monochrome becomes painted in bright, vibrant colours. Performing it live in front of NovA before its official release was an experience that made us want to make our comeback as soon as possible!
Davide: Speaking of the CATCH THE WAVE world tour, you’ve been travelling across the globe and connecting with international fans! How has the overall experience of the tour been for you so far? You didn’t get to stop by London this time, but UK NovA would love to host you here—as you meet NovAs across various regions, is a visit to London something you are hoping for in the near future?
LIN: We learned so much through this tour! Before this, we had never performed this many songs in a single show, but through the experience, we gained a much better understanding of how to connect with the audience. It could be through facial expressions or just a simple callout like “Make some noise!” Of course, none of this growth would be possible without NovA’s love and passion!
We are truly looking forward to the day we get to meet UK NovA~! While it’s a little disappointing that we couldn’t visit this time, we hope you look forward to the future with anticipation rather than disappointment! This is still just the beginning, and there will be so many opportunities to meet down the road, so please hang tight just a little longer!
Davide: Finally, do you have a special message for all the NovA who have been cheering you on through every comeback and tour stop?
MIRAKU: I want to sincerely thank our NovA for giving us unwavering love and support through every comeback and tour stop. Thank you so much for always standing by our side and being our biggest driving force to move forward.
