August 14 marked a very important evening as Fantagio’s dynamic boy group LUN8 touched down in London for their “Beyond the Moon” European Tour, stopping off at 229. Bringing an infectious burst of energy and slick choreography to an intimate stage, the boy group proved why their rapid international rise has captured the whole world.
Formed by Fantagio, the masterminds behind groups like ASTRO, LUN8 officially burst onto the scene on June 15, 2023, with their debut mini-album CONTINUE?, featuring double title tracks “Wild Heart” and “Voyager”. Their name, symbolising the boys who embrace the moonlight that brightly illuminates the dark night, set the tone for a musical identity blending youthful optimism with a sleek, driving dance-pop sound.
Following their debut, they dropped successive releases including their second EP BUFF, ventured into unit promotions with LUN8wave, completed successful Japanese promotions, and continued to evolve their discography with energetic tracks like “SUPER POWER” and “WHIP”. Till the latest EP, Off the Grid, with some iconic tracks like SNEAKERS and my personal favourite, BACK.
As the lights went down at 229, LUN8 stepped out to write a brand-new chapter for their UK fans, turning a much-anticipated tour stop into an unforgettable night of live music.
Let’s now dive into the night! LUN8 kicked the show off with “BACK”—what a better way to start than having one of my favourite tracks first in line! From the very first beats, it was clear that we were all in for a great show.
The group took a short moment to welcome the fans and introduce themselves. After that, LUN8 continued with “Lost” and “Nauty”, followed by “XX” and “Wild Heart”. So far, I were very impressed by how the group maintained such high energy while executing the choreography smoothly and sharply.
It was time to rest a bit, but what better way to take a breather than with a couple of fun games? For the first game, LUN8 split into three teams and had to guess songs by listening to the sound of the footsteps—which sounds incredibly difficult! Picture this: one team danced behind the other two teams, and by the sound of their feet, the others had to guess the name of the song. Props to the boys because they all scored a point each, ending the round in a tie!
The second game was all about the British accent. The rules were simple: the same teams were given a sentence, had 60 seconds to practice, and the most natural British accent won. We had three rounds, and I must say, some members really nailed it!
After this fun interaction, LUN8 got back on track and continued the set with “Voyager”.
The group took another moment to interact with the fans, checking if they still had energy, and introduced their next stage by sharing that some members worked on the choreography for “SNEAKERS”. That song is all about new beginnings, new challenges, and feeling free, themes they express directly through their movement. That led straight into “SNEAKERS”, and what a performance it was!
“SUPER POWER” was up next, a funky love song that really stood out. The high-energy stages continued with “WHIP”.
We were getting closer to the end of the show as they transitioned into “Now” and “TO THE MOON”. LUN8 then wrapped up the main set with “If I Could…”—but was it really the end? A K-pop show isn’t a proper K-pop show without an encore!
After a quick outfit change, LUN8 got back on stage to perform “Live In The Moment” and “MON2SUN”, which unfortunately marked the actual end of the night.
It was my first time seeing LUN8 perform live, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it! The group kept up an incredible level of energy throughout the whole show, and what stood out the most was how slick and smooth their choreography was. Hearing that they helped create the choreography for their latest track, “SNEAKERS”, made that stage even more enjoyable. It is always great to see groups getting hands-on with their artistry.
Make sure to continue supporting LUN8 on their journey—we can’t wait to catch them again next time!
